Welcome to Tilly White Photography!
I am Lydia, an award winning family photographer based in Bolton. I enjoy taking natural images of your babies, children and family, capturing their fun and happy personalities, although sometimes the tantrums too! There’s something so special about being able to treasure those authentic moments.
Our relaxed, private studio allows you and your little ones to feel right at home. Our sessions will have no set time, I’ll just snap away until we’re all happy.
I like to use crisp, white and natural colours, keeping things simplistic. After all, we love our family for who they are! Less tends to be more when it comes to props and outfits, but my studio is equipped with everything needed to create beautiful portraits.

My Story

Nice to meet you all. I am Lyd (whatever you fancy). I am the owner, photographer, PA, play mate, and ‘cuppa maker’ at ‘Tilly White Photography’.
Having made my way through boring careers, I decided it was time to spend my days doing something I truly love. I have always enjoyed photography as a hobby but started to take more of an interest in family photography, when my niece came along. I became obsessed with capturing her cheeky personality!
I spent time working freelance for a photography business who were kind enough to train me and show me the ways of studio photography. I had the most fun and in this time and it made me realise that you really can be passionate about your job.
I learnt so much along my journey and started to envisage my own fairy tale photography business in my head.
In 2019, I decided to take the leap and make my dream come true! I now believe I have the best job in the world!
I am Mum to my beautiful Hettie, born in December 21, and wife to my super husband Rhys! Having my own family has really taught me about the highs and lows of being a new mum.
*The story behind the name Tilly White – Quite frankly, I simply love the name Tilly. Within my family we have a little running joke, throughout my life I have named all of my pets Tilly. The Hamster, the fish and even our current family dog, it never seems to grow old! I wanted my brand to have a friendly feel but also a story behind it, once Tilly White was mentioned there was no other name that came close!
FAQ’s
What props, clothes and toys do you use?
I have a variety of props and clothes, all in natural colours and styles. I mostly have natural wooden toys in the studio as I like to capture your babies and children playing in some of my shots.
Should I bring anything to the session?
Just your usual 'mummy Mary Poppins bag!!' Milk, food, drinks, snacks. Anything that will help get your little ones laughing and smiling. We keep the studio pretty toasty so please make sure you are wearing comfortable layers. (you might get stuck in too!)
What happens if my baby isn't happy?
There is a high chance that most of my little clients will have a melt down at some point. I take my time to make everyone feel comfortable and at home from the moment you walk into the studio. We spend time playing and exploring before I start taking any images.
What should we wear?
As a guide, simple natural colours tend to work best (white, beige, brown). Avoid logos and bold prints.
When will we see our images?
Around 1-2 weeks after your shoot I will send you a link to your private online viewing gallery. You can sit down and relax in the comfort of your own home and decide on your favourites and products. There is no hard sell and you are free to order only what you LOVE!
Can I take my own pictures at the session?
We kindly ask that you don't take any pictures on your own devices, as tempting as it may be! Some devices have been known to affect our lighting and sound equipment.
